Lutsen MN Wedding Photographer

This summer we had the opportunity to explore a bit of the North Shore of Lake Superior when we photographed the wedding of Ross and Jenna in Lutsen Minnesota.  Above is a photo we captured near Lake Superior at Temperance River State Park before the wedding ceremony during the reveal.  The reveal took place during the brightest time of the day and the sky was clear and blue so we choose shaded areas to photograph the couple.

Following the reveal we moved closer to the Lake.  We brought out our strobes in order to light Ross and Jenna in the bright sun light.  We also photographed the wedding party and all the family photos near the lake.  Following photos we traveled into Lutsen to Summit Chalet for the wedding ceremony and the reception.  The wedding party stayed at the Eagle Ridge at Lutsen Resort we stayed at Caribou Highlands just down the street.

At Lutsen all guests of the wedding enjoyed a gondola ride to the top of the mountain.  Pictured above is Ross and Jenna in a gondola.  Top the mountain we enjoyed the scenic outlooks while waiting for the guests to be seated for the wedding ceremony.

The outdoor ceremony took place on the sun deck over looking Lake Superior.  The ceremony sun deck at Summit Chalet is pictured above.

Following the ceremony everyone joined Jenna and Ross inside the Chalet for the wedding reception.  The Chalet is the perfect backdrop for a mountain top wedding reception complete with a stone fireplace.
Jenna and Ross enjoyed their first dance in-front of the water wall at the Chalet.  Following the dances our 10 hour wedding photography day coverage was complete and we took the ride down the mountain in a gondola ourselves.  We enjoyed our day in Lutsen and we look forward to returning again.  If you are looking for a North Shore Duluth or Lutsen wedding photographer please contact us a www.phodot.com

Buffalo High School Senior Portrait Photography

We are happy to share the following photos from Kia’s senior portrait session.  Kia is a Buffalo High School senior.  During Kia’s session will walked downtown Buffalo on a photo safari looking for soft light and colors that would compliment her outfits.  We are fortunate that our studio is located in downtown Buffalo where we are steps from so many different photography backdrops.  Seniors can simply pop into our studio during a session to change their outfit in a comfortable situation.  We captured all of these different backdrops and more in less then two hours.

Buffalo High School Senior Portraits by Phodot

This fall we had the privilege of being on the Buffalo Senior High School Senior Portrait Approved Photography Studio list for the first time.  Karissa was one of the high school seniors from Buffalo to book us for her senior portrait session this year.  Here are a few of our favorite images from her session with Phodot Photography.

University of Minnesota Wedding Photography

On September 4th we photographed the wedding of Cari and Erik at Grace University Lutheran Church.  Grace University Lutheran Church is located next to the University of Minnesota Twin Cities Campus.

Photography wedding day coverage started at the Commons Hotel.  The wedding party and the bride and groom made use of the larger suites at the Commons to get ready.  The Commons has several areas inside that provide for interesting photography options. We choose to use the Commons for the bride and groom reveal.  During the reveal Cari and Erik exchanged gifts for one another.  We made use of the large mirror on the second floor to capture both Cari and Erik’s reactions.  Following the reveal we walked as a group to the University of Minnesota Mall for formal wedding party portraits.

From the U of M Mall we traveled to the Church for family photos and then the ceremony.  Grace University Lutheran Church was a beautiful backdrop for the wedding and it was just across the street from the Commons Hotel.

Following the wedding the wedding party traveled to the Stone Arch Bridge for a few photos before moving onto the reception.  The reception was held at the Minneapolis Golf Club.  From the flowers to the up-lighting the Minneapolis Golf Club was full of purple and pink.  DJ Aaron Eisenberg kept the party going.  We enjoyed his flow of events that included beginning the dance with the father/ daughter, then the mother/son, with the first dance as the headliner going last.

St. Cloud Munsinger Garden Wedding Photography

Photography for Stephanie and Mark’s wedding day began at Munsinger Gardens in Saint Cloud on Saturday June 18, 2016.  Munsinger Gardens is a beautiful location for bridal formals.  Stephanie and Mark choose to incorporate the location into their day because the church were their ceremony took place is under construction this summer and Stephanie wanted a green park background for their formal wedding portraits.

We began the day photographing Mark, his groomsmen and his family while we waited for Stephanie and her bridesmaids to arrive. Rain was in the forecast for later in the day so we made sure to set the time for photos early enough to outrun the storm.  Munsinger Gardens also offered a refund on their permit fee if the day turned to rain and Stephanie and Mark had to cancel.

Once Stephanie arrived at the park we moved into the reveal.  We choose a location away from the bridal party so they could have their moment alone.

Stephanie spun in a circle so Mark could see all of her beautiful wedding gown.  They were both full of smiles and ready for the rest of the day.

While at the garden we photographed all the couple, wedding party and family photos.  Below is the wedding party just outside of the gazebo by the river.

From the gardens we traveled to St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Watkins Minnesota.  St. Anthony’s is a beautiful old church full of stained glass windows and classic Catholic Church status.  We love photographing at St. Anthony’s it is just the perfect size for a wedding.  It’s small enough that your guests fill the room but not so small that they feel confined.  Below Stephanie walks down the aisle with her father to meet Mark.

From the ceremony we traveled to the reception held at Dino’s Eden Lakeside Club located at 15445 County Road 9, Eden Valley MN.  Stephanie and Mark traveled in style.  We captured a few pics of the couple before they left.

When we arrived at Dino’s the rain had passed and it was beautiful both inside and out by the lake.  Below are a few images from the reception.

While Dino’s staff was clearing the dance floor we stepped out on the back patio with Stephanie and Mark for a few photos lakeside.  When we popped back in the dance floor was ready for Stephanie and Mark.

Chris & Lindsey’s Wedding Photography

On May 7th, 2016 we photographed the wedding of Lindsey and Chris at St. Ambrose Church in Woodbury MN.  Below are a small sneak peek of the images that we captured during the day.  They are a collective mix of the documentary, formal and creative photos that we took through-out the wedding day at various locations and times around Woodbury and St. Paul Minnesota.
Stacy began the day photographing Lindsey as she got ready for the day.  Above, mom helps Lindsey with her necklace.  Below are the cute shoes that mom had decorated for Lindsey.  No doubt they will become a treasured family heirloom.  Each shoe was created with it’s own messages and symbols of Chris and Lindsey’s relationship.  The shoe below is decorated with the date of the wedding.

Lindsey and Chris were all smiles as they exited the church hand in hand after the ceremony.  From the church the bridal party traveled to Cowboy Jacks in Woodbury.  Chris and Lindsey’s relationship began at Cowboy Jack’s so it was important to them to incorporate the restaurant into their wedding day and their wedding photos.  Below are a few photos that we captured at Cowboy Jacks.

From Cowboy Jacks we traveled onto the reception that took place at The Mermaid Entertainment and Event Center in St. Paul MN.  Below the crowd cheers as Chris and Lindsey march into the ballroom for the reception.

Entertainment was provided by Adam of Ever After Sound.  Adam keep the day rolling as he made sure that all eyes were on Lindsey and Chris for their first dance as husband and wife.  They also made time for a father-daughter and mother-son dances.

Our full day 10 hour wedding photography coverage ended as Chris tossed the garter, however the party and celebration lasted all night long.

Buffalo MN Newborn Photography Studio

This past month we welcomed baby Kamryn to the Phodot Photography Studio in Buffalo for her first photo session.  Kamryn was just nine days old at her newborn photography session; the perfect age for her first session.  We photographed the wedding of Kamryn’s parents; so we are very excited to watch the family grow.

February can be a very cold and dry time of year for newborn photo sessions.  To keep Kamryn warm in the studio we used space heaters.  We also covered her in multiple fabric wraps to protect her newborn skin.  We also made sure to make time during the session for feeding so Kamryn would stay content.  Our newborn photography sessions usually run about three hours.  We use baskets, blankets and other photography props to provide mom and dad with multiple photography options.  We take photos of baby with siblings, and mom and dad during the session.

Big sister Kadance was so proud to share the spotlight with her new sister.  The photos of the two girls together are some of our favorite images from the session.  While the photo session is centered around the new baby; Mark captured the portrait of Kandance below as she waited for Kamryn.  Mom purchased a canvas connect of four photos; two of the girls together and one individual of each.  Including the portrait of Kandance below.

Winsted wedding photography by Minnesota Photographers Mark & Stacy Milburn

On October 3rd we traveled to Winsted Minnesota to photograph the wedding ceremony of Beau and Brooke.  The wedding ceremony took place at Holy Trinity Catholic Church.  The large stained glass windows in Holy Trinity fill the church with a warm glowing light in the afternoon.  We loved photographing Beau and Brooke surrounded in the light under Brooke’s veil.

Both Beau and Brooke were full of smiles through-out their wedding day.  We captured Beau’s smile as he stood at the altar smiling at his bride.  Above Brooke laughed and smiled as she waited for us to place Beau in location for their reveal before the ceremony.

We captured Beau fighting back tears as he watched his bride walk down the aisle to meet him during their wedding ceremony.

Beau and Brooke managed to sneak in an extra kiss during their candle lighting ceremony.

Friends and family all participated in blessing Brooke and Beau’s union during the ceremony.

Following the ceremony the bridal party stopped by a bar or two before heading to a park for wedding party photos.  We took a few fun photos of the girls and the guys from the wedding party at the Bar.

Fall was in full swing at the Crow River Winery in Hutchinson.  Below Beau and Brooke are surrounded by orange fall pumpkins set to be chucked in weekends to follow.

The fields behind the Crow River Winery offer fantastic sunsets.  We pulled Beau and Brooke out of their reception while dinner was wrapping up for a few sunset photos.

June Wedding Photography at the MN Landscape Arboretum by Phodot

  • The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum is a beautiful location for an outdoor summer wedding ceremony.  Chuck full of various locations and backdrops for wedding photos; it is a photographer’s dream.  It was also the perfect setting for Nicole and Josh whom frequent the gardens and enjoy the privileges of membership.  The above image was photographed in the Japanese Garden shortly after the wedding ceremony.
  • Nicole stayed comfortable and cool as she got dressed and ready inside for her wedding day at The MN Landscape Arboretum.  While Stacy photographed Nicole, Mark captured images of Josh getting ready.  Below are a few images from the rest of the day.

Profile Event Center Wedding by Minneapolis Wedding Photographer Mark Milburn

On March 21st, 2015 we had the honor of photographing the wedding of Karington Brown and Kate LeTourneau.  They were married at the Profile Event Center in Minneapolis Minnesota.  Following the ceremony we darted down to the Stone Arch Bridge for a few couple photos before the reception.  We love the love and joy Karington and Kate displayed for each other as they snuggled to keep warm in the photo pictured above.  The image showcases the smiles that filled the day
Kate wore a dress from Brides of France.  Kate and all her bridesmaids got ready at the Profile Event Center.  The Profile Event Center provides separate rooms for the bride and the groom to dress and prepare for their wedding day.

Above Kate and Karington’s favorite flower girl snuggles with Kate.

Karington wore a Men’s Warehouse suit.
The soft pastels in Kate’s bouquet designed by KMB Floral were a perfect match for the March day and a warm contrast to the cool blue in Karington’s tie and vest.
The Creative Beaute Agency made sure that Kate and her bridesmaids looked their best throughout the day.  Creative Beaute’s travels to you on your wedding day as part of their on-site hair and make-up service.

We had to make use of the colorful stairs at the Profile Event Center.

The cool but beautiful March day called to us to step outside for a few photos before pulling the wedding party together for formals.
Mary Eggers created a signature look that was carried through-out all of the invitations, programs and thank you cards.
The wedding ceremony began as Karington escorted his parent’s down the aisle to their seats.  We love the warm loving smiles all three wore on their faces.  You could tell they were all happy that soon Kate would be an official member of the family.
The flower girls brought smiles and happy tears to the eyes as they made their way down the aisle preparing the crowd for Kate’s appearance.
Kate father escorted her down the aisle with pride and smiles.

Officiant’s Kevin and Kris Tjaden led Kate and Karington through their ceremony which included an exchanging of rings and a candle lighting ceremony.

Following the ceremony we traveled with Karington and Kate down to the Stone Arch Bridge for a few couple photos.  Kate and Karington shared with us that their first kiss had taken place on the Bridge years earlier.

The Profile Event Center all decked out for Kate and Karington’s reception.

Karington and Kate, still smiling, returned from the Stone Arch Bridge to the Profile Event Center to make their grand entrance.

Following dinner Karington and Kate shared their first dance as guests enjoyed a dessert buffet full of sweet and delicious options.

Kate enjoyed a dance with her father before Karington danced with his mother.  Both dances were filled with smiles from all.

DJ Ryan Rud kept the guest dancing and the party going.  Just before our departure we pulled Kate and Karington for a last signature end of the night wedding day photo sealed with a kiss.
